Day 1: Historic Center and Museums
Start your day in La Candelaria, Bogota's historic district:
- Visit Plaza de Bolivar, the main square surrounded by important government buildings like the Palace of Justice and Capitol Building, which date back to the 16th century. Continue to Casa Narino (5 minute walk) the president residence where you can book a free tour at least 5 days in advance! Head to Museo Botero, the most iconic Colombian artist worldwide, known for its disproportionate paintings. If you are only visiting one museum in Bogota, pick Museo del Oro! - Wander the colorful streets of La Candelaria, where you can have lunch, grab some drinks, and/or do some shopping!
- If you are not too tired, go to Monserrate. The tallest mountain in Bogota which you can get by a short train. Recommended as you are in Bogota’s historic district and you will have an amazing view of the City. Fun fact, local people go up the stairs in the morning to exercise!
Day 2: Monserrate and Urban Exploration
- Take the cable car or funicular to Monserrate for panoramic views of the city256.
- Visit the Bogota Botanical Garden to see local flora23.
- Explore the trendy Zona Rosa area for shopping and dining3.
- If it's Sunday, check out the Usaquen Flea Market for local crafts and food3.
Day 3: Day Trip and Local Culture
- Take a half-day trip to the Zipaquirá Salt Cathedral, an underground church built in a salt mine.
- Upon returning to Bogota, visit the Paloquemao Market for a taste of local life and fresh produce.
- End your trip with a visit to the vibrant neighborhood of El Chico for dinner and nightlife.
